"Junkyard" means more than 50 cubic feet of junk when located in an urban growth area, or the use of more than 300 square feet of area of any lot where junk is bought, sold, exchanged, stored, baled, packed, disassembled or handled, including automobile wrecking yards, house wrecking yards, and places or yards devoted to the storage of inoperable vehicles, salvaged house wrecking and structural steel materials and equipment. A junkyard does not include such uses when conducted entirely within an enclosed building, nor pawn shops and establishments for the sale, purchase or storage of used furniture and household equipment, used cars in operable condition or the processing of used, discarded or salvaged materials as part of a manufacturing operation.
