Due to the inadequate flow or other factors where pollution from motor discharge is aggravated by internal combustion motor discharge, or the pristine character of upland lakes over 1,500 feet in elevation in danger of being seriously damaged, or the small size (under 45 acres), or shallow depth, or a configuration rendering the use of internal combustion motor-powered watercraft hazardous, the propulsion of a motorboat in whole or in part by an internal combustion motor is unlawful upon the following lakes:

With approval of the director of the department of conservation and natural resources or his/her designee, lakeshore property associations may use internal combustion motors for the sole purpose of noxious aquatic weed removal activities on the following lakes:

Noxious aquatic weed removal activities allowed under this section shall be targeted at aquatic plants included on the state noxious weed list in chapter 16-750 WAC and shall be limited to the extent practicable to avoid significantly impacting lake water quality, natural vegetation, and other lakeshore property. The maximum speed of any motorboat used for noxious aquatic weed removal activities shall be eight miles per hour. A lakeshore property association is responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including permit requirements applicable to noxious aquatic weed removal activities. A lakeshore property association must apply each calendar year to the director of the department of conservation and natural resources for approval of the use of internal combustion motors for noxious aquatic weed removal activities.

City, County, State or other government agencies may use internal combustion motors on lakes where internal combustion motors are otherwise prohibited, for the purpose of search and rescue, law enforcement, or rehabilitation.
